Hello

My name is Jake Berg, and catching has been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been fortunate to play and coach this position at the highest levels, and now my mission is to pass that knowledge on to the next generation of catchers.

My Story

Playing Career

  • D1 Jacksonville University (2020–2022): Began my collegiate career as a catcher in the ASUN Conference.

  • D1 Lipscomb University (2022–2025): Finished my career with the Bisons, where I helped lead the program to  ASUN Championships and gained invaluable postseason experience.

  • MLB Draft League (2025): Signed Professionally with the West Virginia Black Bears and caught the league leading staff on the championship-winning team.

  • Over the course of my college and pro career, I’ve caught over 175 games, giving me thousands of innings behind the plate against some of the best talent in the country.

Coaching Experience

  • Graduate Assistant Coach – Lipscomb University (current): Serve on staff working daily with catchers, pitchers, and hitters at the Division I level.

  • Head Coach – 15U–17U  GRB Rays Travel Baseball (2023-2025): Led high-level travel teams, managing practices, games, and player development.

  • Camp Leader & Instructor (2022-present): Organized and ran multiple catcher-specific camps and clinics, training athletes of all ages in both skills and leadership.

My Why

Through these experiences I’ve learned that catching is more than a position - it’s about leadership, toughness, and preparation. My goal is to help young catchers develop elite skills behind the plate while also building the confidence and leadership qualities that last a lifetime. This is my passion and I will bring that  energy everyday to impact the next generation of Catchers.
